1) How are the ovens delivered?
A: The ovens come in crates or on pallets on a freight truck. If you have a forklift, bobcat, skid steer, or tractor you can unload the truck yourself. If not we can provide liftgate delivery which means the driver will leave the oven in the crate on your driveway or in the garage. Driver can only access the areas which do not have any steps leading to them, and are completely paved, flat, and straight - such as a typical driveway leading into a garage. Driver will not help with unpacking the oven from the crate, lifting it, or bringing it inside the house or into the backyard.
2) Should I expect damage on delivery?
A: No. Our wood ovens and bbqs are packaged very securely inside wooden crates or on machine shrink-wrapped pallets. Damage will occur ionly f the shipping company mishandles them which in our experience is very rare. Our shipments are fully insured against damage.
To be on the safe side make sure to inspect the oven before you sign for it. If you notice any damage please make sure to note it on the Bill of Lading and have the driver sign underneath.
3) How can we lift the Portuguese brick oven?
A: Our Portuguese ovens are very heavy, approx. 1450 lb! If you need to lift your oven please make sure you have a sufficient number of people, minimum 8, equipped with lifting straps. The easiest way is to use an engine hoist or a scissor lift. If you decide to use one of these please make sure they can handle the weight - check the specs.
Some of our other ovens are a lot lighter and can be easily carried by 2-3 people. Please check the description of your product. Our Volta ovens can be easily carried piece by piece by two people.
If you are buying a product which needs to be assembled (such as our Volta ovens or masonry bbqs) please use caution when unpacking it. Various components are strapped together with many layers of polystrap, when you are cutting the strap make sure you know exactly which part(s) will be released by the strap you are cutting. Make sure someone else is holding the relevant component(s) while you are cutting the strap.
Masonry BBQs:
Our outdoor masonry barbecues arrive securely packaged and ready for self assembly. Some parts are not moveable by 1 person hence assembly requires 2 people. The barbecues are delivered on pallets in components, which are simply glued or mortared together with special adhesives which are provided by us. This is the standard way these products are delivered around the world.
BBQs are machine shrink-wrapped, you will need to remove the shrink wrap before taking the components off the pallet. Please use caution when unpacking your BBQ. Various components are strapped together with many layers of polystrap, when you are cutting the strap make sure you know which part(s) will be released by this strap. Make sure someone else is holding the relevant component(s) while you are cutting the strap..
